A Day Maker

January 11, 2012

Yesterday when I first looked at email that had come in since last night, I noticed a request for connecting on LinkedIn. Much to my delight, it was a request from a former Dialogue student. I’m not always able for whatever reasons to stay in touch with someone whom I’ve taught. That teaching always establishes a very special relationship, and at the end of a clinic I feel a moment of sadness when I realize that I just might not hear from this person or cross paths with him or her again. So this social media connection was exciting. And what this person wrote to identify herself, in case I had forgotten the name, set me up for the sunniest of days despite the heavy morning fog. She wrote:

“Judy – Your Dialogue Training restored my dog’s life (December 2007) following a pit bull attack. Mocha just died this year, and I’ve written a memoir, including a section on Dialogue Training.”

I’m so gratified that she recognizes and acknowledges that it was Dialogue that restored her dog and not me, personally. Nothing could be more important than for dog owners to understand that the principles of Dialogue are there for anyone to learn from my book and DVDs. Then these pet parents, to use a significantly descriptive term, can implement these principles in a structured manner within a lifestyle that gives their dogs emotional stability, peace of mind, and freedom from fear. In short, a proven basis for a safe, long and happy life.
